Lantau Island - In the Shadow of the Buddha
'In the Shadow of the Buddha' is the name given to a walk on Lantau Island by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. The walk commences on a trail a few minutes from the Big Buddha and finishes at Tung Chung Fort, a 19th Century fort that was built to attempt to suppress the opium trade and defend the coastal area from pirates. The fort measures 70 by 80 metres and 6 old muzzle-loading cannons can be seen, fully intact.
The walk also takes you past Lo Hon Temple. Before doing the walk, continue a few mins to the wonderful Wisdom Path and then backtrack to the path.
