Hong Kong Island - Mid-Levels & Soho
The area halfway up The Peak, back from the flat strip around the harbour, is known simply as Mid-Levels. Its main attraction is the 800 metre long Mid-Level Escalator Link, which is a series of elevated walkways, escalators and travelators that cut up the hillside. It is capable of carrying 30,000+ people a day on a one way elevator system that changes direction from downhill in the morning, to uphill late morning to evening.
The area around the mid-level escalators is known as Soho, a popular ex-pat area with dozens of bars and restaurants that is a little quieter than Lan Kwai-Fong. To reach the escalators, catch the MTR to Central station and exit at Pedder Street (D1). Turn right and follow the road round, which is Queens Road Central. Walk for about 10mins and you`ll see the escalators.
