"Wild Macaques" in "Wilson Trail - Stages 4 & 5" Gallery View Gallery View Slideshow New Territories - Wilson Trail - Stages 4 & 5 After a couple of cooler hikes, the hot weather returned in Dec 2009 for this 6hr hike, which saw me complete stages 4 and 5 of the Wilson Trail. The hike started at Tseng Lang Shue village and ended at Tai-Po Road.

Stage 4 is the more difficult of the 2 as there are steep climbs. Stage 5 is virtually flat and follows a catchwater for a good part of the walk making it less interesting. It also has a more urban feel with Sha Tin close by.

For nature lovers, stage 5 is also a great chance to see a number of Hong Kong`s wild monkeys. On the day of the hike I encountered around 50 macaques. Its awesome to see these animals in their natural environment.

To start this hike, catch bus 91 from Diamond Hill bus terminus and alight at the second stop after the Shell petrol station. Or contact Roz`s Hiking Group for more information.
